Division of Civil Engineering
We consider the foundation of life as “city designers.”
What kind of "city" do you want to live in? There are various answers: a city that can withstand a disaster, a city with abundant nature, a city with a convenient transportation system, etc. But whatever kind of city, for that characteristic to function, various things must be considered. In the Division of Civil Engineering, students aim to work as "city designers" who design the facilities and lifelines essential to create a city.

Curriculum characteristics
FEATURE

Starting with the study of specialized subjects, practice in drawing and surveying is carried out.
Starting in the 2nd year, study of specialized subjects begins. Students study Surveying, which is essential in the design and construction of roads and bridges, and Structural Mechanics, which calculates various forces acting on structures. Opportunities for hands-on learning, such as practicing drawing and surveying increase.
Students learn the most crucial basics in specialized subjects.
In the 3rd year, students study three main pillars in the Division of Civil Engineering-Hydraulics, Geotechnical Engineering and Structural Mechanics. Students gain further understanding of the power of water and soil needed to create the foundation for life on earth through classroom lectures and experiments.

A wide range of specialized knowledge needed by construction engineers is acquired.
Adding to the knowledge accumulated during the previous years, students expand their range of specialized knowledge, such as natural disasters and their countermeasures, as well as the properties of concrete and road construction. Students also receive an internship at a company as they consider their career path.
Students work on graduate research, which is the culmination of their five-year college life.
In the 5th year, the students focus on their graduate research which is also the culmination of their college life. Based on the knowledge and technology learned up to this point, students learn how to think, research and implement matters on their own in order to naturally handle problem-solving.
